1990, my brother Joel was doing a summer internship in Hamburg,
Germany. Despite having virtually no money to work with, my mother
and I decided to go see him. When we arrived at the airport in New
York we found out our flight had been cancelled. We told the gate
agent that we'd take any flight that went to Europe that night and, two
hours later, we were off on a trip that would include beer at the
Haufbrauhaus and and overnight on the floor of the Munich train
station. After that adventure, I never looked a map the same.
Below
you can have a look at the route, map and a brief description of our
bigger trips over the past decade or so. The links on the left of
the page will lead you to journal entries, photos and videos from many of
these same adventures.
